    Carolina Sternwheeler
The Carolina Sternwheeler opened in 1973 with the park, it "floats" around the centerpiece of the park, which is known as Smurf Island, but is currently not being used. The island used to feature the Smurfs, but it was closed for some reason. The island and Sternwheeler rides are now gone and will be remembered as one of the park's greatest icons.
    Ride Description
The Carolina Sternwheeler is giant paddlewheel boat smilar to the Mark Twain at Disneyland in California, and the Magic Kindom in Flordia. As you board the boat, you will see the old exit dock for Smurf Island, which used for Paramount's SCarowinds in October. As you leave the boat leaves the dock you go pass the wonderful Vortex rollercoaster. After passing Vortex, you will soon pass the Carolina Goldrusher, and an old footer from the Cable Skyway that went over the island. Then you will get a look at Scooby-Doo's Haunted Mansion, and part of the Carolina RFD section. You will then float by the new Rugrats Runaway Reptar rollercoaster, and beside the horrorable Nickelodeon Central area. You will then float back in to the dock. the Sternwheeler was one of the orginal five rides at Carowinds and hopefully the Carolina Queen will always be with us.
