The rapids ride itself were built by Carowinds(or Hopkins, Carowinds claims they did but the design of the ride is the same as the Standard Model offered by Hopkins.) in 1982. The ride originally used 8-person rafts but towards the end of the season a raft flipped over the waterfall so in 1983, they were replaced with Intamin AG 6-person rafts that are still in service today. Note:The original rafts for this ride were built by Carowinds and ended service in 1982.
