BORG Assimilator orginally opened in 2000 at Great America(California) as Stealth, the world's first flying coaster. In 2003, Great America(California) annouced the removal of Stealth and that it would be replaced by a waterpark in 2004. The very same day Carowinds annouced the carolina's first flying coaster would replace the Carolina Sternwheeler paddlewheel boat ride that had operated for 30 years. The ride would later become known as BORG Assimilator, the world's first Star Trek themed coaster. BORG became known as Nighthawk in 2008.
